Federica Infantino holds the junior chair in migration at the Research Unit Migration and Society (URMIS), French Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Université Côte d’Azur. Previously, she was a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow at the European University Institute, Migration Policy Centre, and held postdoctoral positions at the University of Oxford (COMPAS) and at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (GERME). Building on ethnographic methodologies and comparative perspectives, her research has investigated migration and border control on the ground by focusing on the implementation of policy instruments such as EU visa policy, immigration detention, and returns. She is particularly interested in the actors and organisations that put migration and border control policies into practice, including state actors and private companies. Federica is the author of the books Schengen Visa Implementation and Transnational Policy-Making and Outsourcing Border Control, both published by Palgrave. Her research has appeared in several journals such as Regulation & Governance, The ANNALS of the American Academy of Political and Social Sciences, Comparative Migration Studies, Security Dialogue, The Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Gouvernement & Action Publique, Sociologies Pratiques, and others.
