João Tavares

João Tavares holds degrees in Public Policy, Law, and International Relations. He is a democracy activist and social entrepreneur, and currently serves as co-founder and Executive Director of the National Network for Civic Education (Rede Nacional de Educação Cidadã, Brazil), a coalition of 120 organizations whose mission is to strengthen democratic culture in Brazil.
Through strategic advocacy efforts aimed at systemic impact, RedeNEC is now formally collaborating with the Brazilian Ministry of Education on the development of the national civic education program. João serves on the boards of several Brazilian civic education organisations and was recognised in 2024 as a Young Global Changer by the Global Solutions Summit in Germany.
