Joe Cullen

Joe Cullen is Director of Arcola Research UK and Arcola Research Portugal; President of Associação Godinhela – Investigação e Desenvolvimento Social (AGID), Portugal and Professional Partner at the Tavistock Institute, UK. He previously taught social sciences and evaluation and research methods at the Universities of Cambridge, Loughborough, Leeds, London Metropolitan and the Open University, and was Academic Dean at the Tavistock Institute, London, where he also served as a member of the Editorial Board of ‘Human Relations’. He has carried out over 200 research and evaluation assignments at national and EU level across a range of fields including education and training, health, youth, crime, social and digital inclusion and community resilience. He has produced over 100 book chapters, journal articles and conference papers. He is currently co-ordinator of the EU-funded project ‘SCAFFOLD’ – which aims to support young people to become ‘sustainability leaders’ in their communities and is scientific co-ordinator of the EU-funded project YOU-DECIDE – improving children and young people’s involvement in local decision-making, and ‘JUST-LISTEN’ – giving a voice within the justice system to child victims of sexual abuse and exploitation.
