
Kamil is a documentary film director and border researcher. He is particularly interested in the concept of the uncertainty of borders and what it means to be exposed to them, which is also the main inquiry of his PhD thesis. He graduated in communication studies and sociology and works as a border researcher in the field of urban and regional planning, design and architecture at the Department of Regional Planning at the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus, Germany. In November 2024 he will start his new work as a postdoc at the Department of Urban Development and Mobility at the Luxembourg Institute for Socio-Economic Research in a project focusing on border semiotics. Kamil has also completed postgraduate studies in documentary film directing within the DOK PRO program at the Wajda School in Warsaw, Poland. His most recent films focus on the life and practice of home-making in the refugee camp from an architecture-critical point of view. They have been shown in numerous film festivals around the world and have received several awards. Kamil is currently working on a new film project, which will be his feature-length debut.
