Karin was born in Vienna in 1976. She graduated from Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa and in 2002 she joined the service responsible for the legalization of Urban Areas of Illegal Genesis (AUGI) of the Cascais City Council, whose mission was to regularize, in a permanent proactive attitude, the obstacles brought by residents. It is following her post-graduation in Agenda Local XXI and Sustainable Development at Universidade Católica do Porto that, in 2013, she joined the Participatory Budgeting team in the newly formed Division of Citizenship and Participation. Since 2019, she has been directly responsible for the Participatory Budget and Youth Participatory Budget, where she sees her daily life as “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”.
