Marcelo Gaspar was born in the southern part of São Paulo, Brazil. He graduated in social communication and worked in advertising as an art director and planner at agencies such as Havas and WMccan. In 2016, he became an immigrant. He lived in several cities such as Porto, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Budapest, working as a cleaner and receptionist in hostels – where he also lived – and as a waiter, cook, and bartender. He currently lives in Lisbon, Portugal. He became a collector of stories and a communist activist. Today he is a writer. He launched his first book, Carvão – crônicas que queimam (Coal – chronicles that burn), in early 2026. Inspired by Eduardo Galeano, the book seeks to bring together the stories and beliefs he has collected from everyday challenges, from the absurd number of working hours to xenophobia, racism, and social violence. He writes articles for the newspaper A Verdade do Brasil, poems, and short stories on his personal page. He uses words as a form of struggle and art.
