Wawrzyniec Smoczyński

Wawrzyniec is co-founder and president of the New Community Foundation, founder of the Polityka Insight think tank, consultant and analyst, and member of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR). He worked as a journalist for 13 years, covering international affairs, economics, and politics. He advises investors on political risk, leads strategic processes in large organisations, facilitates group dialogue and workshops, and trains executives in critical thinking. From 2019 to 2024, he was director of strategy at SWPS University, Poland’s largest private university. His work focuses on community-building processes, including the formation of civic bonds and political polarisation. He regularly comments on political developments in Poland and the EU. Alumnus of the Leadership Academy for Poland, Open Society Fellow, and Marshall Memorial Fellow.
